God settles His accounts on fair terms

God settles His accounts on fair terms

Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

Matthew 18:23

1, God settles His accounts on fair terms

God has made provision for our salvation in the precious blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross. As such in order to be in right standing with God all we need to do is genuinely repent and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. As such no matter the debt, whether it is financial or emotional, God will settle in accordance with His word. Nothing is too hard for God to forgive.

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Jeremiah 27:32

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.

Daniel 9:9

2, God’s promises are in line with His word

God had made provision for every situation that we will encounter in our life. The price was paid at the cross with the blood of Jesus. God advises us that He is a God that cannot lie.

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Numbers 23:19

Because God cannot lie, all the issues and concerns we have in life be they financial or otherwise have been settled at the cross. God is faithful to His word and we can stand on His word and trust Him.

Summary

God is a merciful God that desires to settle accounts with us. God is not moved by our circumstances such as debt.  God does not lie and is faithful. God has authority and power like a king, yet is willing to humble himself to negotiate with us. God is fair and upright and is able to settle any situation.

When you sew the little you have, God will multiply it

Thursday 6th April 2017

Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.”So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left.

Matthew 15:34-37

1, God is miraculous

God is without limitation. Nothing is too difficult for God. We serve a God that can serve a multitude of thousands of people, with seven loaves of bread and fish. We can trust in God for our daily needs as well as financial provision.  No need is toodifficult for God to meet. When God meets our needs there is room for more. In Matthew 15:34-37 fragments of food are left behind which indicates that God is more than able to fulfil our needs.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

2, God is our provider

God provides for our needs as Matthew 15:34-37 indicates. There is no need to difficult in our life for God to cater to. Even when the odds are stacked against us God can make away. In 2nd Kings Chapter 19 and 20 we are introduced to King Hezekiah. King Hezekiah is in a desperate situation and is concerned that the King of Assyria will destroy his nation. He is counselled not to trust in God’s ability to come through for him. He petitions God by prayer and puts faith in God. God comes through for him and destroys the Assyrian King and his army.  This shows that no matter how difficult the task or how insurmountable the odds, God can meet the need.

“Both riches and honour come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.”

1 Chronicles 29:12

3, Nothing is too difficult for God

God created the world from nothing. How much more so can he do for us. We serve a God whose currency is faith. When we step out in God confidence and in God’s strength and do not lean upon our own understanding, but seek the wisdom of God, breakthrough occurs (Proverbs 3:5-6). Several bible characters overcame harrowing odds and prevailed. David had to lean upon God many times in his defence against King Saul and in his many battles. Joseph who was sold into slavery by his brothers went onto become a ruler and forgave his brothers when he could have destroyed them (Genesis 37-50), and Job who overcame immense suffering and loss, proved his faithfulness to God during his suffering and had his life restored. This can be read about in the book of Job.

‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

Jeremiah 32:17

Summary

We serve a mighty God who is more than able to supply all our needs. When we look to God He does what man cannot do. He is able to perform miracles like feed thousands people from a few loaves of bread and fish, and still have a generous amount of fragments remaining. God can and will meet all our needs when we put Him and His needs first in our life.

Being discreet can preserve you

Wednesday 5th April 2017

Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you

Proverbs 2:11 (NLT)

Today’s verse tells us that discretion can preserve you. To be discreet is to have prudence or good sense. The question today then is, how can being discreet or prudent preserve you?

1, It helps you to focus on your own business

When you are discreet or prudent it helps you to focus on your own business because you realise that you only have one life and it makes good sense to use the time you have left to focus on your God-given assignment:

That you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 (NKJV)

2, It helps you stay out of people’s business

When you are discreet it helps you to stay out of other people’s business. We are encouraged to work and not to meddle in other people’s business, in other words, not be busy bodies:

Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living

1 Thessalonians 3:11-12 (NLT)

In summary, when you are discreet and focus on your own business and not meddle in other people’s affairs, it helps to preserve you because you avoid any unnecessary trouble that doesn’t concern us.

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to be discreet in minding my own business and not to meddle in other people’s business in Jesus name.

What are the benefits to being faithful to God?

Wednesday 22 March 2017

He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him

Proverbs 2:8 (NLT)

There are many benefits to being faithful to God and today we want to explore some of those benefits:

  1. The Lord protects the faithful

God provides protection to those who are faithful to Him. He guides our path and protects us from the dangers of the day and the terrors of the night and does not permit the evil one to touch us in any way:

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)

  1. The Lord blesses the faithful

When we are faithful to God He blesses us with the blessings of the heavens above and blessings of the earth beneath and makes our lives prosperous:

A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

Proverbs 28:20 (ESV)

  1. The Lord promotes the faithful

This earthly experience is all a test of faithfulness. If we are able to be faithful over the little God has given us here on earth then He will make us rulers over many things in the age to come:

And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.

Luke 12:42-44 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to be faithful over what You have given me here so that You can trust me with the true riches of heaven in Jesus name.
