How do we have a merry heart?

How do we have a merry heart?

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Proverbs 17:22 (KJV)

We are told in this scripture that a merry heart is like medicine. Medicine is used to cure, stop or prevent illness. In the same way, when you keep a happy heart, it can cure, stop or prevent emotional disease such as depression and anxiety. The question is, how do we keep a merry heart?

  1. Choose to have a merry heart

We can actually choose to be happy and merry, because choice is a gift that the Lord has given to each and every human being. When David was discouraged after his wives and possessions were stolen by the Amalakites, the Bible tells us that he encouraged himself in the Lord. It was David who also declared that:

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

  1. Fill your heart with the love of God

We must purpose in our lives to fill our hearts with the love of the Lord because it is the love of Christ that will fill our hearts with joy:

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.

Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)

  1. Maintain a peaceful heart

To have a merry heart, we must cultivate the habit of letting the peace of Jesus Christ sustain and dwell in our hearts:

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Colossians 3:15 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to have a merry heart in Jesus mighty name.

Why should we commit our plans to the Lord?

Why should we commit our plans to the Lord?

Commit your works to the Lord,

And your thoughts will be established.

Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)

We are being told in this scripture to commit all our plans to Lord so that our thoughts will be established. When our thoughts are established, we will know exactly what to do. The question is, what does committing our plans to God entail?

  1. Pray before you act

Committing our plans to the Lord means that before we make decisions about something that we are not sure about, we should pray and ask the Lord to direct us. We also need to trust Him and act on whatever He directs us to do:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

  1. Ask God for wisdom

Asking God for wisdom before we take a major decision is one way in which we can commit our plans before the Lord. It means we humble ourselves and acknowledge Him that we don’t know the best course of action to take and we ask Him to direct our steps:

In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:6 (KJV)

  1. Put your plans before the Lord

For us to commit our plans to the Lord, we have to commit all that we are doing before the Lord and ask Him to make our plans successful:

And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!

Psalm 90:17 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, I choose to commit all my plans into Your hands, please let my thoughts be established in Jesus mighty name.

How do we avoid strife?

How do we avoid strife?

A wrathful man stirs up strife,

But he who is slow to anger allays contention.

Proverbs 15:18 (NKJV)

Strife is one of the things that the Lord hates. The reason is because where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (James 3:16). The question we are asking today is, how should we avoid strife?

  1. Seek unity

Because of the fall of man, the natural state of humanity is jealousy and strife. However the word of God says that we should learn to live in unity with our brethren because where there is unity, the Lord has commanded His blessing:

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV)

  1. Seek peace

The word of God says we should live in peace with everyone. Therefore when the temptation comes to get in strife or argue, we should remember that the Lord wants us to live in peace and even if it means we overlook an argument, we should be willing to do that. It’s the Lord’s desire that there should be peace and harmony among us:

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Romans 12:18 (NIV)

  1. Seek love and reconciliation

When we see that we are in danger of getting into an argument and strife, we are encouraged by Proverbs to avoid it, leave it alone and simply refuse to argue:

Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out.

Proverbs 17:14 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to avoid strife and live at peace with everyone in Jesus name.

How do we develop a sound heart?

How do we develop a sound heart?

A sound heart is life to the body,

But envy is rottenness to the bones.

Proverbs 14:30 (NKJV)

A sound heart is very important because out of it proceed the issues of life. The question today is, how do we develop a sound heart?

  1. Deal with issues that arise in your heart

We must acknowledge that things are in our heart that is not always pleasant. The Bible says that the human heart is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Therefore when wicked thoughts comes into the heart, we must not think it strange and neither should we try to suppress it. We need to instead run to the Lord to ask Him to help us deal with the issues in our heart:

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)

  1. Remove unforgiveness from your heart

There are certain things we do that does not allow us to have a sound heart. One of them is harbouring unforgiveness in our hearts. We must daily ask the Lord to search us and see if there is any unforgiveness in our hearts because unforgivenesss will block us from enjoying a sound heart:

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Mark 11:25 (NKJV)

  1. Remove bitterness from our hearts

When we refuse to forgive, it can lead to bitterness developing in our hearts which acts like a cancer. Bitterness will prevent us from enjoying all the benefits and privileges that God has set for us:

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

Hebrews 12:15 (NLT)

Prayer:

Dear Lord, please help me to guard my heart for out of it comes the issues of life in Jesus name.

How do we prepare for the wealth transfer?

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,

But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV)

We know a period is coming where the wealth of the sinner will be transferred into the hands of the righteous. That is the prophecy, however do we prepare ourselves for the wealth transfer?

  1. Find your purpose

Before the wealth of the wicked can be transferred into our hands, we will need to know the unique purpose and gift that God has given us. You and I must find the ‘one thing’ that God has chosen us to do. Once we know the ‘one thing’ and become known for it, we will be able to benefit from the fruit of it:

A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.

Proverbs 18:16 (NKJV)

  1. Become knowledgeable about your gift

Whatever gift or talent God has given us, He expects us to use it and multiply it, like the profitable servants. The way you do that is to increase your knowledge and practice that skill so that you can become an expert. Once you are an expert, the world will come to see your gift and will be willing to pay you to use it:

Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

Isaiah 60:3 (NIV)

  1. Learn how to serve many people

The wealth of the wicked will come when we learn how to serve people and increase the number of people whom we serve. Whatever gift you have been given, ask God for wisdom to increase the number of people who you can serve with it. Jesus said that when we follow Him, He will make us fishers of men:

And He saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Matthew 4:19 (KJV)

Prayer:

Dear Lord, please help me to prepare for the coming wealth transfer and to use it for the proclamation of the Gospel in Jesus name.

Why is the wealth of the sinner laid up for the righteous?

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,

But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV)

There is therefore coming a time when the wealth of the sinner will be transferred into the hands of the righteous. The question is, what is the purpose of the wealth transfer?

  1. To preach the Gospel of the Kingdom

Jesus gave us the great commission to go into all the world and teach all nations the good news about the Kingdom of God before the end can come.

To go into all nations requires the calling and the anointing, but also finances. In these end times, God wants to bless His children financially so that we can use it to preach the gospel about the Kingdom, so that millions of souls can enter the Kingdom before the second coming of our Jesus Christ:

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Matthew 24: 14 (KJV)

  1. To bless the poor

Jesus said that we will always have the poor with us and He wants to use us, His children, to bless those who are in need. You cannot bless someone financially if you are also in financial need. Therefore the purpose of the wealth transfer is so that we can have enough to bless those who are in need:

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isaiah 58:7 (KJV)

Prayer:

Dear Lord, please show me how to get ready for the coming wealth transfer in Jesus name.

Why should we choose our friends wisely?

Why should we choose our friends wisely?

The righteous should choose his friends carefully,

For the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Proverbs 12:26 (NKJV)

The Bible says that those who are righteous choose their friends carefully. Why should we choose our fiends wisely?

  1. The right friends can sharpen you

The right friend will bring out the best in you and will sharpen you to become the best version of yourself. A good friend will correct you when you are wrong and will encourage you to do good works:

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

Proverbs 27:17 (NLT)

  1. When you walk with wise friends you too will become wise

When you walk and spend time with friends who are wise, you too will be wise, however when you spend time with fools, you too will be foolish therefore it is important that we choose our friends carefully:

He who walks with wise men will be wise,

But the companion of fools will be destroyed.

Proverbs 13:20 (NKJV)

  1. Some friends can stick closer to you than your brother

There are certain friends who can stay closer to you than even a biological brother or sister. This is why it’s so important for us to maintain the right friends:

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24 (NLT)

Dear Lord, please help me to choose my friends wisely me in Jesus name.

How do we overcome anxiety?

How do we overcome anxiety?

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,

But a good word makes it glad.

Proverbs 12:25

This scripture tells us that depression is actually a symptom of something deeper, which is, anxiety. According to Anxiety UK, at present 40% of disability worldwide is due to depression and anxiety. Anxiety and depression is a problem that affects both believers and non-believers alike however as believers we know we are called to be overcomers. As believers, how can we then overcome anxiety?

  1. Do not worry about the future

Jesus repeatedly warns us in the Scriptures that we must not worry about the future. When we are anxious, it’s often because we are worried about the future because we cannot see the end. However our Lord tells us to:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

  1. Take one day at a time

When you take one day at a time, you feel liberated because you do not feel the need to know everything about the future. When you trust in the Lord to take care of your future it will liberate you from worry:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:34 (NIV)

  1. Seek first the Kingdom of God

Jesus said that if we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, all the things we desire shall be given unto us:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to seek first your Kingdom and righteousness so that all the things I want shall be added unto me in Jesus name.

There is wisdom in winning souls

There is wisdom in winning souls

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.

Proverbs 11:30

We are told that he who wins souls is wise. Why is winning souls so important to God?

  1. God desires everyone to be saved

God loves humanity so much that He was willing to offer His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17

  1. God desires that everyone will know the truth

God desires that everyone will be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth of Who Jesus Christ is:

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:4

  1. Winning souls is God’s number one priority

Winning souls is God’s number one priority on earth. Jesus said the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few. He therefore encouraged us to pray to the Father to send workers into the harvest:

Therefore said He unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into His harvest.

Luke 10:2 (KJV)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please give me wisdom to win souls for You on a daily basis in Jesus name.
