Why is the wealth of the sinner laid up for the righteous?

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children,

But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV)

There is therefore coming a time when the wealth of the sinner will be transferred into the hands of the righteous. The question is, what is the purpose of the wealth transfer?

1. To preach the Gospel of the Kingdom

Jesus gave us the great commission to go into all the world and teach all nations the good news about the Kingdom of God before the end can come.

To go into all nations requires the calling and the anointing, but also finances. In these end times, God wants to bless His children financially so that we can use it to preach the gospel about the Kingdom, so that millions of souls can enter the Kingdom before the second coming of our Jesus Christ:

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Matthew 24: 14 (KJV)

2. To bless the poor

Jesus said that we will always have the poor with us and He wants to use us, His children, to bless those who are in need. You cannot bless someone financially if you are also in financial need. Therefore the purpose of the wealth transfer is so that we can have enough to bless those who are in need:

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isaiah 58:7 (KJV)

Prayer:

Dear Lord, please show me how to get ready for the coming wealth transfer in Jesus name.

Harvest a good group

   “But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

Mark 4:8

In order that a good harvest be yielded, certain conditions are essential. Sunlight, water as well fertile soil is required. The season for harvesting a crop needs to be correct, so the crop will grow.  When ideal conditions are met as predetermined by God ‘s creative hand, an abundant harvest is possible. In order to bear a fruitful financial harvest in our life, we will explore some crucial things God tells us for His blessing.

1, Acknowledge God

To harvest abundance in our lives, including financial abundance, it’s important to first and foremost acknowledge God. All good things come from God (James 1:17). If we invest in God and get to know Him and do as He tells us, we will reap accordingly.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Galatians 6:7-8

2, Faith is fundamental

In order to grow in our relationship with God, we need to have faith. God rewards faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith is so important to God, that He reassures us that we all have a measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6

3, God rewards us according to the cleanliness of our hands

God rewards those that listen to His word. Obedience is important from the book of Genesis to Revelation. We are called to live a life of obedience (Genesis 22:18). The word advises us that God rewards us according to the cleanliness of our hands. As such, it is important that we are obedient to God since obedience is a form of worship to God (Romans 12:1).

The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

Psalm 18:24

Summary

When we acknowledge God and walk in faith and obedience, God has no reason not to be faithful to His word.  God promises us to give us the desires of heart. When we please God and put Him first by honouring what He tells us to do in His word, God promises to reward us according to the cleanliness of our hands and according to the promises in His word.

God desires our best offering

“Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.”

John 12:3

Mary offered up an expensive sacrifice that was worth the equivalent of thousands of pounds today. She used expensive oil reserved for Kings on Jesus feet. Mary’s gift was costly and extravagant! What lessons can you learn from Mary today?

1, Give God more than crumbs

Mary of Bethany realized that nothing is too valuable to give Jesus. It is not about how much you give to Jesus, but how much it cost YOU to give it. God desires our best. He has promised to give us His best. When we give to Jesus, no matter how little or how big it may be, He will always give us back more than we could possibly imagine!

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 6:38

2, God owns everything any way

Our God is the creator of the universe.  He never gets tired or weary. He is aware of our needs and is able to meet them all. Like Mary, we need to be willing to give our best even if it means we have to sacrifice. God owns it all anyway. Being generous to God permits Him to be generous to us (Proverbs 3:9-10).

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:28

Summary

Since God supplies our every need, it’s only correct that we are willing to offer to God our best. Mary was rebuked by those around her, especially by Judas for using such costly oil on Jesus feet, nonetheless she sacrificed her best for Jesus and has gone down in history for the generous provision she offered up. Jesus was well pleased with her sacrifice. We to like Mary can offer God our best sacrifice with the conduct in which we live our life and through the things we sacrifice to God.

Why should you accept the Lord’s discipline?

My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you.

For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom He delights.

Proverbs 3:11-12 (NLT)

Being disciplined is not a pleasant experience however we are being encouraged not to be upset when we experience it. Why is it important to accept discipline?

1, The Lord disciplines those He loves

Just as a natural father correct a child that he loves, God also corrects us because He loves us. If we accept God as our Father then we must accept the discipline that the Father gives to His children:

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as His children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline,and don’t give up when He corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child.”

Hebrews 12:5-6 (NLT)

2, Discipline helps you to stay on the right track

The Lord’s discipline helps us to stay on the right track, which is why David said it was good for him to be afflicted. Affliction helps us to come back to the Lord and to obey the word of the Lord:

It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.

Psalm 119:71 (NIV)

3, Discipline produces a fruit of righteousness in our lives

In the moment when we are being disciplined it seems painful, but later it helps us to live right in the sight of God:

No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening–it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

Hebrews 12:11 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to accept Your discipline knowing that You correct those you love in Jesus name.

What is the secret of obtaining favor with God and people Part 2

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

Proverbs 3:3-4 (NLT)

Last week, we learned that to obtain favor with God and people, we must be loyal, kind, respect God and believe in Jesus Christ. Today we will explore three more secrets to obtaining favor:

1. Be humble

Humility is having a deep sense of one’s (moral) littleness; modesty, and lowliness of mind. It is being aware that we are nothing without the grace of God upon our lives and therefore having total dependence on God. When we humble ourselves we will obtain favor from God:

Toward the scorners He is scornful, but to the humble He gives favor.

Proverbs 3:34 (ESV) 

2. Seek God’s favor

God says we will find Him when we seek Him with all of our heart. Therefore as we develop a relationship with Him, we can, like the Psalmist ask God to shower us with His favor:

Remember me, O Lord, when You show favor to Your people; help me when You save them

Psalm 106: 4 (ESV)

3. Seek God’s Kingdom first

When we put God first in everything we do, and seek for the establishment of His kingdom here on earth, He gives us other things that we did not ask for including favor:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please remember me when You show favor to Your people; help me when You save them in Jesus name.

You can’t out give God

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

Matthew 19:29

1, Give to God and you will have more

In order to receive you have to be willing to give. God promise us in Matthew 19:29 that He is the supreme provider whether we acknowledge Him or not. Everything belongs to God whether we accept it or not. God promises that when we are willing to surrender everything to Him, including our family and possessions e.g land, He will acknowledge this and blesses us with more. He promises us eternal life and material blessings in return for us making ourselves completely available to Him.

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

2, God provides for all our needs

God knows our needs from our wants. He knows we need friends and family however God also reminds us that at times we may need to leave friends and family for His sake. In doing so God promises to bless us 100 fold and give us eternal life. God will compensate us for the lack.

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?

Luke 12:24 

Summary

It is worth putting God before all our wants and needs since He is more than able to supply all of our needs. When we truly surrender to God and place Him first, God promises to bless us abundantly and make provision for us to occupy an eternal place in His Kingdom. There is certainly no loss when we put God’s need first since He promises to bless us for doing so.

Why should we build our treasure in heaven

Thursday 24^th April 2017

Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

Matthew 19:21

In the passage of Matthew 19:21 we are introduced to a rich successful young man who asks Jesus what he needs to do to inherit everlasting life. He is advised by Jesus that he needs to sell all that he has and give it to the poor. He is told that he will then secure his treasure in heaven. We can learn many things from this passage in relation to wealth.

1, God’s kingdom is more important than wealth

In order to serve God we do not need to be poor. This rich young man was told to sell all that he had because wealth to him was extremely important. God cautions in His word that He is the father of every good gift, however in order to truly succeed and follow Jesus, we need to put the kingdom of God first in our life. When we do, all the blessings from doing so will flow into our life. The young rich man put his wealth first and the kingdom of God second, hence Jesus’ bold response to the young man to give away all his possessions to the poor.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

2, When we serve God He will fulfil all our immediate desires

When we follow God and put Him first we acquire treasure in heaven. God is the supplier of every good gift (James 1:17). God’s desire is to not withhold any good thing from us. God has a purpose for our life and provided we submit to Him and put God first, He will allow us to fulfil our God given purpose.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

Summary

We should build our treasure in heaven by first seeking the kingdom of God, since in putting God first before all our goals and desires, God will allow us to secure eternal life in heaven. When we live righteously before God we will also be qualified to receive through faith, the promises God has made for us in His word such as God’s promise to supply all our needs.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

What are the benefits to being faithful to God?

He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him

Proverbs 2:8 (NLT)

There are many benefits to being faithful to God and today we want to explore some of those benefits:

1. The Lord protects the faithful

God provides protection to those who are faithful to Him. He guides our path and protects us from the dangers of the day and the terrors of the night and does not permit the evil one to touch us in any way:

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)

2. The Lord blesses the faithful

When we are faithful to God He blesses us with the blessings of the heavens above and blessings of the earth beneath and makes our lives prosperous:

A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

Proverbs 28:20 (ESV)

3. The Lord promotes the faithful

This earthly experience is all a test of faithfulness. If we are able to be faithful over the little God has given us here on earth then He will make us rulers over many things in the age to come:

And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to be faithful over what You have given me here so that You can trust me with the true riches of heaven in Jesus name.

God is a shield for the upright

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;

He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;

Proverbs 2:7

 

This verse tells us that God actually stores up sound wisdom for those who walk uprightly, He is a shield to those who walk uprightly. What is a shield?

A shield is a gate or door (or “door-shaped”); used of the large, oblong ancient Roman shield (which looked like a full door), large enough to provide full protection from attack. Why do we need the Lord as our shield?

1. He provides protection

The Lord provides protection for the person who has a right relationship with Him. This protection always extinguishes (takes the fire out of) the missiles of the enemy so that he cannot harm us:

God protects me like a shield; He saves those whose hearts are right

Psalm 7:10 (NCV)

2. The Lord gives us faith

Every believer has been given a measure of faith and faith is described as a shield that provides protection against the fiery darts of the wicked:

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked

Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV)

3. The Lord provides favour

The righteous are surrounded with favour as with a shield. Favour is kindness from God that is undeserved. In other words, as believers, we wear favour like a shield and receive grace and blessing because of the favour of God:

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;

With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Psalm 5:12 (NJKV) 

Prayer

Dear Lord, I thank You that You are a shield for those who trust in You. Today let Yourfavour surround me as with a shield in Jesus name.

How do you overcome complacency?

For the turning away of the simple will slay them,

And the complacency of fools will destroy them;

Proverbs 1:32 (NKJV)

Last week, we learned that it is dangerous to be complacent because it makes you careless and unaware about hidden dangers. So the question today is, how do you overcome complacency?

1. Be Fervent

We are encouraged by the Apostle Paul to be fervent in spirit. To be fervent in spirit means to boil, love and have a zeal for what is good. In other words, we are encouraged not to be lazy but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically with boiling love:

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Romans 12:11

2. Be Diligent

To be diligent is to have an earnestness in accomplishing, promoting, or striving after what God has told us to do. There is an assignment that God has given to each of us and we must be diligent to achieve it:

Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 10:4

3. Be Passionate about the things of God

Another way to overcome complacency is to do whatever the Lord tells us to do with passion, knowing that it is the Lord that we are doing it unto:

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

Colossians 3:23

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to be fervent, diligent and passionate about the things of God in Jesus name.
