How can we sow on good ground?

Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.

Mark 4:18-20

Thursday 20th July 2017

How to sow Gods word on good ground

In the Bible there is a parable of sowing seeds on different grounds and getting different results. In order to fully reap the benefits of the information contained in the Bible, we need to understand how we can take the word of God and allow it to bear fruit in our life, so the full glory of the word can shine in our life. If we do not apply the word according to Gods commandments we can at times miss out on the full benefits of the promises in the word.

1, Hear the word and apply the word

Some people do not fully benefit from God’s promises since they hear and know the word however they do not apply it consistently in their lives. They may apply elements of it and ignore some of it. For example God reward us according to the cleanliness of our hands so we must stay away from things such as fornication, gossip and slander.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

2, Meditate on the word day and night

In order for us to truly benefit from the word of God and sow on good ground and bear fruit in our life such as financial reward, we need to meditate on God’s word day and night. God promises us His word is more precious than gold since God’s word can give us the wisdom to get wealth (Psalm 19:10-11).

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Deuteronomy 8:18

3, Trust in God’s grace to help you be faithful to God’s word

God tells us to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. It’s easier to be successful through trusting in God’s strength and not our own. In our own strength, sin is very tempting however when we rebuke the flesh and walk in God’s grace, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us Galatians 5:16-26.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Summary

When we acknowledge God in all we do, He will direct our pathway. We will be able to sow the word on fertile ground and yield a bountiful crop in our life including our emotional well being, finances and personal life. As long as we seek God with all our effort and trust in His strength and not our own, we will be able to avoid becoming like thorny ground that cannot hold a bountiful harvest.

Harvest a good group

But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

Mark 4:8

In order that a good harvest be yielded, certain conditions are essential. Sunlight, water as well fertile soil is required. The season for harvesting a crop needs to be correct, so the crop will grow.  When ideal conditions are met as predetermined by God ‘s creative hand, an abundant harvest is possible. In order to bear a fruitful financial harvest in our life, we will explore some crucial things God tells us for His blessing.

1, Acknowledge God

To harvest abundance in our lives, including financial abundance, it’s important to first and foremost acknowledge God. All good things come from God (James 1:17). If we invest in God and get to know Him and do as He tells us, we will reap accordingly.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Galatians 6:7-8

2, Faith is fundamental

In order to grow in our relationship with God, we need to have faith. God rewards faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith is so important to God, that He reassures us that we all have a measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6

3, God rewards us according to the cleanliness of our hands

God rewards those that listen to His word. Obedience is important from the book of Genesis to Revelation. We are called to live a life of obedience (Genesis 22:18). The word advises us that God rewards us according to the cleanliness of our hands. As such, it is important that we are obedient to God since obedience is a form of worship to God (Romans 12:1).

The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

Psalm 18:24

Summary

When we acknowledge God and walk in faith and obedience, God has no reason not to be faithful to His word.  God promises us to give us the desires of heart. When we please God and put Him first by honouring what He tells us to do in His word, God promises to reward us according to the cleanliness of our hands and according to the promises in His word.

What are the benefits of wisdom?

Wednesday 12th July 2017

Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left.

Proverbs 3:13-16

There are so many benefits to having wisdom and today we will explore some of these benefits:

1, Having wisdom makes you joyful

The scripture above tells us that joyful is the person who finds wisdom. This is indeed true because we are told that wisdom brightens a person’s face and softens’ its harsh appearance:

How wonderful to be wise, to analyze and interpret things. Wisdom lights up a person’s face, softening its harshness:

Ecclesiastes 8:1 (NLT)

2, Wisdom offers you a long life

We know that fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and we are told that the fear of the Lord will prolong your days on earth:

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Proverbs 10:27 (KJV)

3, Wisdom offers you riches

The wisdom of God offers you riches because you will have God-given ideas that if you will implement can make you rich beyond your imagination. We all have thousands of ideas going through our minds each day and many of them are ideas from God about what He wants us to do to make us rich. The secret is to take one of those ideas that you know is from God, work on it and never give up until it becomes successful. When you are rich you will be able to bless the poor:

Wisdom can make you rich, but foolishness leads to more foolishness.

Proverbs 14:24 (CEV)

4, Wisdom offers you honor

When you are a person of wisdom, you will have honor and others will hold you in high esteem:

If you prize wisdom, she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you

Proverbs 4:8 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to fear You because I know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

God desires our best offering

Friday 7th July 2017

“Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.”

John 12:3

Mary offered up an expensive sacrifice that was worth the equivalent of thousands of pounds today. She used expensive oil reserved for Kings on Jesus feet. Mary’s gift was costly and extravagant! What lessons can you learn from Mary today?

1, Give God more than crumbs

Mary of Bethany realized that nothing is too valuable to give Jesus. It is not about how much you give to Jesus, but how much it cost YOU to give it. God desires our best. He has promised to give us His best. When we give to Jesus, no matter how little or how big it may be, He will always give us back more than we could possibly imagine!

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 6:38

2, God owns everything any way

Our God is the creator of the universe.  He never gets tired or weary. He is aware of our needs and is able to meet them all. Like Mary, we need to be willing to give our best even if it means we have to sacrifice. God owns it all anyway. Being generous to God permits Him to be generous to us (Proverbs 3:9-10).

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:28

Summary

Since God supplies our every need, it’s only correct that we are willing to offer to God our best. Mary was rebuked by those around her, especially by Judas for using such costly oil on Jesus feet, nonetheless she sacrificed her best for Jesus and has gone down in history for the generous provision she offered up. Jesus was well pleased with her sacrifice. We to like Mary can offer God our best sacrifice with the conduct in which we live our life and through the things we sacrifice to God.

God has called us to be successful

God has called us to be successful

Friday 30 June 2017

So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’  His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.

Matthew 25:20-21

In the parable of the talents we are reminded of many life lessons, such as the importance of work ethic to God. We are also reminded that we are all capable of achieving different levels of success before God, provided we put in the correct work ethic. In Matthew 25:14-30, in the parable of talents we are reminded that God is a God of multiplication who expects us to bear fruit and multiply.

1, God expects us to work hard and multiply

God rewards hard work. He expects us to work hard and prosper. In the parable in verse 25:24-28, the servant who was given just one talent and only returned one talent is severely punished for not earning more money on the talent he was given. The men who increased the amount of money they earned on top of the talent they were given, are rewarded with compliments.

‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.  And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Matthew 25:29-30

Biblical success is working diligently in the here and now using all the talents God has given us to produce the return expected by the Master.

2, We work for the Master, not our own selfish purposes.

The master gave the servants talents and expected the three servants to all multiply them. Their role was to act as stewards over the master’s money and all the money made on top was to be given back to the master. God has entrusted us with money, wisdom, skills and creativity to look after the resources He has blessed us with. We are free to enjoy them and use them to bless others and ourselves, however they essentially belong to God. We should feel satisfaction and joy from doing our best with what God has given us in the place where his providence puts us, seeking to succeed in order to honour him.

Summary

We are to honour God with the skills and resources He has blessed us with. We are accountable to God for the way we live our lives. We must be willing to be bold and take initiative where necessary. God has given us wisdom, knowledge and understanding to be successful, to prosper and to multiply.

For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding

Proverbs 2:6

Faith makes a way

Thursday 22 June 2017

His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

Matthew 25:21

The importance of faith if a key concept in the Bible. Faith is the currency on which the Word of God was founded. Faith is crucial in order to have a relationship with God and to acquire the success that God has promised in His word.

1,Faith is essential to  progress

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

In Hebrews 11:6, we are reminded by God in the Bible that without faith we cannot please God. When we can be faithful with a few things, God then can bless us with the opportunity to be blessed with much more. If we want to progress to the next level e.g financial independence and achieve our financial goals, we need to first handle our current situations and master it.

2, God is a God of multiplication, change and transformation

In order to be faithful over a few things and then go onto rule many things, we need God’s assistance. God promises in His word to make us more like Christ and to order our footsteps (Psalms 119:133).

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

2 Corinthians 5:17

God removes old things to make the way for new things. In Galatians 5:23, we read of the fruits of the Spirit.  God equates success with faithfulness, joy, long suffering, peace, kindness, goodness and self control. God allows us to be successful through transforming our character and not always our financial circumstances. He promises to do a new thing in our life.

Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.

Isaiah 43:18

Summary

In order to experience new things in our life we need to have faith and be expectant of change in line with Gods promises. We serve a God of multiplication, transformation and change who is more than able to assist us in mastering our current financial situation and circumstances. Once we do, He then promises to take us to more financial success.

Do you want to be healthy and strong?

Wednesday 7 June 2017

Do you want to be healthy and strong?

Do not be wise in your own eyes;

Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

It will be health to your flesh,

And strength to your bones.

Proverbs 3:7-8

In today’s Proverb, we are told how to be healthy and strong in our body:

1, Don’t be wise in your own eyes

The first remedy to be healthy and strong is not to be wise in our own eyes. The Bible tells us that the wisdom of man is foolishness to God therefore as much as we may think we know it all, what we know is nothing compared to our God. We should humble ourselves and seek the wisdom of God in everything we do including in our health:

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

Proverbs 14:12 (ESV)

2, Fear God

If we want to be healthy and strong we are told to fear God. The fear of God is having holy reverence and respect for God knowing that He made us and our lives are in His hands:

Whoever fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge

Proverbs 14:26 (NIV)

3, Depart from Evil

If we want to be strong and healthy we have to be willing to depart from doing evil because evil things only lead to sickness and eventually death. Instead we have to do good so that it will go well for us:

Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.

Psalm 37:27 (NIV)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me not to be wise in my own eyes but to fear You and depart from evil in Jesus name.

Why it is so important to be kind?

Wednesday 3 May 2017

Why is it important to be kind?

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!

Tie them around your neck as a reminder.

Write them deep within your heart.

Proverbs 3:3 (NLT)

There are two virtues that we told in Proverbs 3:3 that should never leave us, loyalty and kindness. Today we want to examine why it is so important to be kind.

1, When you sow kindness you will reap kindness

The Bible tells us that we will always reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). Therefore when you sow kindness you too will reap kindness:

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)

2, Kindness is an act of love

When you are kind, it shows that you are obeying the first commandment of the Lord which is to love the Lord our God and to love our neighbor as ourselves:

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Matthew 22:37-39 (NLT)

3, Kindness is a fruit of the Spirit

Kindness is one of the fruit of the Spirit that we as believers should produce in our lives:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

Prayer

Dear Lord, please help me to be kind. Help me to help other people who are in need and sow acts of kindness in other people’s lives in Jesus name.

God settles His accounts on fair terms

God settles His accounts on fair terms

Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

Matthew 18:23

1, God settles His accounts on fair terms

God has made provision for our salvation in the precious blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross. As such in order to be in right standing with God all we need to do is genuinely repent and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. As such no matter the debt, whether it is financial or emotional, God will settle in accordance with His word. Nothing is too hard for God to forgive.

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Jeremiah 27:32

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.

Daniel 9:9

2, God’s promises are in line with His word

God had made provision for every situation that we will encounter in our life. The price was paid at the cross with the blood of Jesus. God advises us that He is a God that cannot lie.

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Numbers 23:19

Because God cannot lie, all the issues and concerns we have in life be they financial or otherwise have been settled at the cross. God is faithful to His word and we can stand on His word and trust Him.

Summary

God is a merciful God that desires to settle accounts with us. God is not moved by our circumstances such as debt.  God does not lie and is faithful. God has authority and power like a king, yet is willing to humble himself to negotiate with us. God is fair and upright and is able to settle any situation.

God has supernatural means of provision

Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

Matthew 17:27

God is a supernatural God of provision able to exceed our every expectation. In the context of Matthew 17:27, Jesus pays His and His disciples taxes through supernatural means. The king’s taxes are paid through Jesus instruction to go to the sea and to cast a hook for a fish so they will have a suitable quantity of money to pay (Matthew 17:27). This scripture tells us the following:

1, God is creative and can resolve any situation

God is able to make an impossible situation work out. There was no means of provision to pay the kings taxes however, Jesus possessed the supernatural power of God to prophecy into the situation that a fish would supply money. The disciple did as instructed in the prophecy, and the prophecy came to pass. God met the need that was spoken into existence, the need for money, before it ever manifested. Once adequate action was taken the money manifested.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

2, God’s currency is faith

God’s currency is in faith. God can meet all our needs including financial needs, provided we have the faith to speak what we need into existence.

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Mark 11:22-24

No matter the obstacle, or how big the situation looks. Even if it looks like a big mountain God can make a way where there appears to be no way.

Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.

Isaiah 43:19

Summary

We serve a mighty God who can make supernatural financial provision for us to overcome any situation and circumstance that appears to have no solution.  God’s creative power rests in making something out of nothing for we serve a God who created a complex world with order, from nothing more than His supernatural words and power.
