Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.
Matthew 10:9-10
In the following passage above we see that we serve a God who supplies all our needs. In the context of this scripture we see that God wanted His disciplines to be completely reliant upon Him to serve all their needs. They were to take no resources with them. Jesus wanted His disciples to have faith that God would provide for their needs.
1, When we work on behalf of God He completely sustains us
We serve a God of abundance. Our God promises to supply all our needs.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us
Ephesians 3:20
Jesus supplied all the needs of His disciples on their missionary journey. At times God also reminds us that He also has the means to bless us abundantly. (John 10:10). He reminds us that He can give us beyond what we ask and He did this with the provision He made for such people as King Solomon who was an extremely wealthy man.
2, We are worthy of having all our needs met
God desires in all things that our soul prospers. As such Matthew 10:9-10, reminds us that we can trust in God’s promise to meet all our needs and to not leave us lacking any good thing.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
3 John 1:2
Summary
God’s desire is that we flourish in all areas of our life. He wants to meet our emotional, physical and financial needs. God makes provision for us to prosper materially as He desires for our soul to prosper in all things. When our soul prospers, all other aspects of our life prosper such as our health and our ability to make and keep wealth.
