God’s Word will never fail: He will do all of what He has promised

Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

Joshua 21:45

We learn in the Scripture above that not one word failed of any good thing that God had spoken to Israel. Everything He said concerning Israel came to pass. As it was then, so it is now; we can be assured that everything God has promised us in His Word for our lives will come to pass. Here is why:

  1. God never fails

Moses assured the children of Israel that God will personally go ahead of them and He will be with them. He said that He will never fail them and that is what He wants you to know today. No matter what you may be going through, God will never abandon or fail you:

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)

  1. Not one of God’s Word will fail

Jesus told us that until heaven and earth disappear, not one small detail of God’s Word will disappear until it has been fulfilled:

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.

Matthew 5:18 (NLT)

  1. The Word of God will accomplish the thing it was sent to do

The Word of God will always produce fruit. It will accomplish all of what God wants it to and will prosper everywhere He sends it:

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)

Prayer

Dear Lord, I thank You that Your word is alive and powerful. Help me to believe that Your word will never fail and that You will do all of what You have promised in Jesus name, amen.

We Serve A Mighty God

For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over, that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”

Joshua 4:23-24 (NKJV)

We serve a Mighty God.

In Joshua chapter four, the Children of Israel had left Egypt and were making their way to the Promised Land, however they came across a big obstacle in their way, the Jordan River. God had told them to go in that direction and yet they came across this great obstacle.

As pilgrims who are journeying through this life to get to our Promised Land, we too will find that the way God may lead us will not always be clear. Obstacles may come our way from time-to-time which may seem insurmountable. However we should not despair.

When the Children of Israel came across the Jordan River, the hand of the God of Israel which is mighty and strong caused the water in the Jordan River to stop flowing so that they could cross it on dry land—just as the Lord had stopped the water at the Red Sea so that they could cross it on dry land. The Lord did this so that all the people in the earth would know that He is very powerful and would fear Him.

When Jesus and His disciples were crossing to the other side and a great windstorm arose and the waves beat into the boat, the disciples were fearful because they thought they would perish. When they awaked Jesus from His sleep, Jesus arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:35-41). The disciples became very fearful and said to one another, “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The sea obeyed God when the Children of Israel were marching towards the Promised Land. The sea obeyed Jesus when He and His disciples were crossing over to the other side.

As pilgrims passing through this life to the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, we should likewise remember that God is mighty and is able to dry up any sea standing in our way and calm every storm in our lives.

If Almighty God could dry up the Jordan River and the Red Sea, and Jesus could command the sea to be still, what can He not do for you? Today, please rely on God and His Son Jesus to see you through any battle that you may be going through.

Prayer

Jehovah God, You are The Mighty God. I thank You that You are the same yesterday, today and forever. What You did for the Children of Israel You are more than able to do for me. I ask You to please stretch forth Your mighty hand and let every Jordan problem in my life dry up and every storm standing in my way to the Promised Land be made still by Your power, in Jesus name, Amen.

What does every new leader need to know?

What does a new leader who has been commissioned by God to become the leader of a new nation need to know after the death of its great leader?

No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. (Joshua 1:5 NKJV)

Joshua was commissioned by God to take over the leadership of Israel after the death of Moses, Israel’s first great leader. To understand the impact that Moses had made, please take a look at how the Bible describes him:

“Israel never had another prophet like Moses: The Lord knew Moses face to face. The Lord sent Moses to do powerful miracles in the land of Egypt. Pharaoh, all his officers, and all the people in Egypt saw those miracles. No other prophet ever did as many powerful and amazing things as Moses did for the Israelites to see. (Deuteronomy 34:10-12 ERV)

The Lord knew that Joshua had every reason to be intimidated by his new position as a leader following the death of Moses, therefore the Lord gave him an assurance which He is still giving leaders today who have assumed new positions of leadership, whether at Church, in business, in your career, or at home etc.

The Lord wants all new leaders to know the following:

  1. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life.

The Lord knew that men would try to rise up against Joshua as the new leader, to stop him from doing what God has called him to do, therefore He reassured him that no man will be able to stand against him.

Every new leader also needs to know that, when God calls you, there will be the naysayers also known as ‘Sanballat’ and ‘Tobiah’ (Nehemiah 2:19) – who will try to stop you, however just remember that the same God who has called and commissioned you will not allow any man to stop you from what He has called you to do:

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6)

  1. As God was with Moses, so He will be with you.

As we can see from the above scripture, Moses was so intimate with God that the Lord knew him face to face. The Lord used him to perform many powerful miracles in Egypt, and the Lord used him to deliver the children of Israel from their slavery in Egypt. That same God also reassured Joshua that He will be with him just like He was with Moses. He did not want Joshua to be intimidated or to think that he had to do the same things that Moses did.

That same God is telling you and I that He will also be with us. Whether He has called you to lead in a ministry, at work, in your business, youth group, in your home etc. that same God who was with Moses is telling you that He will be with you.

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

  1. God will not leave you.

The Lord told Joshua that He will not leave him and He is assuring you of this same fact that He will not leave you. Even though God may not be physically here on earth for you to see Him, Jesus told us when He rose again that He was going to be with the Father, but He will not leave us comfortless. He said that He will send His Holy Spirit to be with us and to comfort us:

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:16-18)

  1. God will not forsake you.

God told Joshua that He will not forsake or fail him. To forsake or to fail is to neglect or let someone down. As human beings we sometimes let each other down when we are not able to do what the other person expect of us, however God told Joshua that unlike human beings who fail and forsake you, He will do what He promised He will do.

Likewise, God is telling each of us that He will not forsake or fail us. What He said He will do, He will do:

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19)

So, what does every new leader need to know?

  1. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life.
  2. As God was with Moses, so He will be with you.
  3. God will not leave you.
  4. God will not forsake you.
